Abacus Bee 2025
Thirteen blind and low vision students from across Washington state gathered in Spokane Saturday November 8th for the Washington Regional Abacus Bee, a full-day celebration of math, access, and family engagement.
Hosted by the Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB) Outreach Access Services team in partnership with Spokane Public Schools, the event was supported by the Washington Department of Services for the Blind and the American Printing House for the Blind (APH).

Billie Jo Thomas
In honor of National School Psychology Week (November 3-7), we shine a much-deserved spotlight on Billie Jo Thomas, WSSB's dedicated School Psychologist and Counselor. Her multifaceted work is truly at the center of student supports, both in the classroom and beyond.
We are incredibly grateful for Miss Thomas's dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment. Her work is fundamental to our mission and makes a profound difference in the lives of our students every single day. Thank you, Billie Jo, for all you do!
WSSB Food Drive

Student Council & the Staff Joy & Appreciation Committee invites you to join in giving back to our community! We are collecting non-perishable food items to support the Clark County Food Bank.
Drop-off bins will be located in Irwin, Old Main, and the Fitness Center.
