WSSB Online UEB Course

**Please join an information session on Zoom on Wednesday, September 17 at 4 to learn more about the class, Washington state braille requirements, and the state Unified English Braille Competency Exam. This information session will help those interested determine if this class is the right fit for their needs. Who is this class for?

Adults who want to learn to read braille by sight and transcribe print into braille. The class will prepare participants to pass the Washington State Unified English Braille Competency Exam. Washington school staff who are teaching braille or producing braille for students are required to demonstrate proficiency in UEB: WAC 181-82-130.

When: 

The class will start on October 1st and end in late February. Participants will receive recorded instructional videos each week corresponding to a lesson in the Instruction Manual for Braille Transcribing.  We will also have a weekly Zoom session to review the lessons. Participants will practice on their own throughout the week using the materials in the Instruction Manual.

Cost: 

The class is free. Participants will need a copy of the Instruction Manual for Braille Transcribing – UEB Edition, 2015, which is available online to view or download for free.

Other Materials:

Participants will need a Perkins Brailler, slate and stylus, and Braille paper. More information about materials will be sent after registering for the class.
