PURPOSE:

Provide direction for day students wishing residential status. A day student is any student living within an area in which the student can be bused on a daily basis to school through a contractual arrangement with ESD 112.

EXCEPTIONS:

Requests for exceptions to this policy will be made to the superintendent in writing by the parent stating that in the case of this particular student the policy imposes an undue hardship and explain the nature of the hardship.

Exceptions due to hardship will include but not be limited to:

A.  Sickness in the student's family or other family stress which make it an undue hardship for the student to live at home.

B.  MDT staffing recommendations based upon individual student's needs.

C.  Other situations where the requirement that a student live at home and commute creates a hardship for the student which may be detrimental to their social, emotional, or educational growth.
