Val Ogden Society for the Blind
The power of philanthropy transcends time. Giving begins today which will shape and form tomorrows reality. The Val Ogden Society for the Blind was created to help financially support the Washington School for the Blind Foundation’s (WSBF) mission and empower our students by providing Braille access. The WSBF is committed to providing financial resources to enable each blind and visually impaired student in Washington to gain access to the tools, skills and training necessary, targeting education and employment opportunities to enhance independent lifestyle.
The Val Ogden Society is an integral part of Washington School for the Blind Foundation’s giving program. This is a perfect way for those who recognize and would like to share their desire for Washington’s blind and visually impaired students to excel.
Val Ogden has been known for her tireless work in the community as a leader and advocate on state and national issues. Val Ogden was the primary sponsor of the Braille Bill, passed in 1996, to promote Braille literacy for students in Washington State. The Ogden Resource Center and Braille Access Center, a state-of-the-art Braille printing and production facility is located on the campus of the Washington State School for the Blind and was dedicated in her honor in October 2003.
