UEB Training and Test (Training in Spokane August 11-12 ** FULL) AND
Interested in learning and practicing Unified English Braille (UEB)? Come to a one-day UEB training on Saturday, June 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Washington Talking Book & Braille Library (WTBBL) – 2021 9th Avenue in Seattle. UEB becomes effective in the United States on January 4, 2016. Visit the Braille Authority of North America site for information about UEB: http://www.brailleauthority.org/ueb.html.
Examples from general books, workbooks, and textbooks will illustrate the new rules and symbols of UEB. Short selections of print copy will be available for take-home transcription practice. WTBBL staff and volunteers will proofread your braille file (sent to WTBBL via email) and provide feedback.

We are in the initial phase of securing individual spots for students who are interested in attending the NW Environmental Science Camp this spring at Camp Magruder. The guidelines for participation in camp are:
Students are capable of being away from home for three nights.
Students are able to dress themselves, with minimal assistance.
Students must be able to toilet themselves independently, or inform someone when the need arises. ...MORE

July 5 – 16, 2015
What? A two-week program for students 14-16 years old, who need minimal assistance with their independent living and travel skills. YES 1 offers students the opportunity to explore their interests and aptitudes through different assessments, to explore different careers, and to visit work sites. Special guest speakers talk with students about the challenges of work as a blind individual, students practice the skills needed to find and procure a job, including filling out applications, participating in mock interviews, building a resume, and creating a career portfolio.

This training is designed to equip educators with the most current knowledge of CVI and provide participants training in how to use the CVI Range and the development of effective educational programming. This workshop is open to anyone working with a student that has CVI.
