Literary Braille Refresher Course

The purpose of this course is to obtain the necessary clock hours for recertification in Braille as required by Washington law. This is a refresher course for teachers, paraeducators, and transcribers who have already passed the Braille Literacy Usage Exam or Library of Congress certification and need to take 10 clock hours every five years to recertify.

The course will be taught in two days, covering the five units in the text, Literary Braille Refresher Course for Teachers and Transcribers.  Each unit completed will earn the participant 2 clock hours, with a total of 10 being offered. The instructor/facilitator will teach and demonstrate the topics in each unit of the text for approximately one hour. The following hour will be allotted for the participants to complete that session’s assignment. Assignments will be completed in class. Braille portions of the assignment must be done on a Perkins Braille. Assignments will be reviewed and graded. Upon completion of all assigned work, the participant will receive the earned clock hours for the sessions completed. This course will be offered in two locations!
