Abacus II

The Abacus II class is a 6 week course beginning at 4:30 pm. The class meets for 2 hours for the 1st 2 sessions, 1 hour 15 minutes for 3 sessions and the 6th session meets for 1 hour for a total of 10 clock hours. The class meets twice per week to allow time for practice.
A class booklet will be sent via email and students should provide there own abacus and have with them during class. The course instruction uses a math approach to the abacus (method 1) and the counting method (method 2).
Objective 1
To provide the compensatory skills for math instruction with visually impaired students
Objective 2
Participants will demonstrate proficiency in the use of the abacus to solve basic math
computations within each session
Objective 3
To provide instructional methods for teaching the abacus to visually impaired students.
